The Khilseiths were not prosperous or powerful clan. They did not believe that such trivialities were important in life. Many of them followed the ways of the monk and isolated themselves inside small monasteries in the Forest following the Order of the Bright Tree. If one thought Elves were rare, meeting a Khilseith Elf was even rarer….although not many had a need to. Kar was born into this family and raised as a monk. There was nothing special or outstanding about Kar when he was growing up, except he was extremely curious. Always the inquisitive mind at work, he was always annoying the elders with his questions. Kar never spent much time in one place, always moving from monastery to monastery to learn from each elder about the Way of the Four Elements.
By the time Kar had turned 83, there was nothing left for the elder monks to teach him. Thaurion, the head monk, summoned him to his chambers one night. Before him was a backpack filled with various items for a traveler. Thaurion told him that it was time for him to travel and see the world through his own eyes instead of through books. Thus, Kareil picked up the backpack said goodbye to his beloved mentor and left the monastery. Since then he has traveled to and mediated in various places in the world to learn more about the Four Elements. He spent time in the Fool’s Desert to feel the blaze of the hot flame, at the peak of the Copper Mountains to freeze in extremely low temperatures, the nomadic prairie to feel the gentle yet sometimes fierce pressure of the wind. Finally he delved into the deep caves of the Copper Mountains to experience unrelenting earth and how it supports life yet can destroy it in an instant. Kareil still has yet to master the abilities of his order but he wishes to experience anything and everything and ventures into the civilization.
